Kevin Menshik - Director

Kevin started his career in market research and was a supervisor / statistician for Quality Control Research in the mid-late 80’s. It was here that his interest in advertising began. After schooling, he took a student placement in the media department at FWJ and worked there for free for a couple of months afterward in hopes of being hired. His first paying job was in an entry-level position in the media department of Intergroup Advertising Group, which was a division of Maclaren Lintas. He moved up and after several years of managing media for larger clients such as McDonald’s Restaurants, Canadian Airlines Air Cargo Division and Esso Fertilizers, he took a job at an independent media buying boutique, Media Management and Promotion (MMP). After a few years, he was managing the majority of the media operation and was offered a position with Kaizen (now DDB Canada) as an Account Director when MMP was sold to what is now DDB Canada. He turned down the offer and started his own shop, Mediactive Inc. in 1994. Kevin’s 20 years of media experience encompasses all aspects of directing, media planning and buying. In addition to previously mentioned accounts, he has directed media counsel activities for Shaw Communications, TELUS, Weight Watchers, EPCOR, Country Music Television, Pizza 73, Canadian Pacific Railways and many others. Kevin is a graduate of the Grant MacEwan Community College Advertising and Public Relations program and the Institute of Canadian Advertising’s CAAP course (Canadian Advertising Agency Practitioners Certification Program). He is one of a handful of non-Toronto members of the Canadian Media Director’s Council. Kevin has served as President of the Board of Directors for the Advertising Club of Edmonton, a member of the NAIT Marketing Advisory Board and is a founding member of the National Advertising Benevolent Society’s Edmonton Chapter. |
